- Aaron A. Krolik
After graduating from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Aaron Krolik attended law school at Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington. During his three years in Bloomington, Aaron was a managing editor for the Federal Communications Law Journal, the official law journal of the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C. Aaron’s interest in controversial constitutional law issues led to his teaching U.S. Constitutional Law to a class of 5th graders during his first and second years in law school (this happened during Bush v. Gore). Aaron passed the Illinois State Bar and Federal Bar in 2003 and essentially began his solo law practice one year later. Currently, Aaron is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.
Aaron Krolik is the most dedicated and outspoken advocate for tenants’ rights in Chicago, Illinois. His Web Site, “www.securitydepositlaw.com,” is optimized on all of the major search engines and often pops up first on Google. His web site is extremely user-friendly and allows you to chat directly with him (whenever he’s online). Krolik prides his law practice on providing information to Chicago tenants – he has become increasingly aware of Chicago renters’ need for strong representation, especially in this time of rising foreclosure rates.
Aaron feels that as a Chicago lawyer, he has a unique opportunity to educate and assist renters whose landlords are in violation of the Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance (RLTO). Chicago’s RLTO, a thirty (30) page ordinance governing landlord-tenant relationships in Chicago, is Aaron’s “mini-constitution.” Most Chicago tenants are unaware of how Chicago’s unusual security deposit laws and other laws can benefit them. There is no law like the law in Chicago.
As a result, Aaron Krolik’s practice engages in substantive class action litigation – representing tenants in class actions against their buildings’ owners and management companies. Krolik has participated in over 30 class action suits in the last 2 years alone, an unprecedented number for Illinois State Courts. It is safe to say that Attorney Krolik’s success as an Illinois class action lawyer is second to none. As a direct result of Krolik’s success in class action litigation, The Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing in Chicago has received over $75,000.00 in cy pres awards and The Legal Assistance Foundation in Chicago recently received a $40,000.00 cy pres award.
Aaron looks forward to continued success and growth in his field. Outside of work, Aaron enjoys playing sports and listening to live music. He is an avid Chicago Bears fan and can’t wait for Jay Cutler’s season. Aaron lives in Chicago’s Lakeshore East area and takes advantage of Chicago summers on the lake and Millenium Park.
